Post a Month After the Enforcement of the GDPR, U.S. Web Network Still Blocking European Visitors

If Europe did something progressive, the US apparently cannot seem to digest it well and has to do something to digress in reply. While the entire world is applauding the GDPR move by the EU, the US is trying to make surfing the web harder and not to mention costlier for the EU residents.  GDPR in the US  is treated as a joke, to say the least, considering websites in the US are simply blocking the EU residents from surfing their websites owing to the “harsh” laws set by the authorities. They would rather lose out on the traffic than give in to the rules and in-turn the revenue from the EU residents visiting the US websites. The  GDPR effects  are quite evident and it is not all that rosy a picture on the other side of the Pacific. US Blocks European Visitors Post GDPR According to the laws set by the European Union, the websites from the European Union or other websites across the globe which are serving the EU residents need to be compliant of the GDPR rules an...

A More Tougher Data Privacy Law to Hit U.S. than GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation  is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all of the individuals within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), inclusive of the export of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. The GDPR ultimate aim is to provide control to citizens over their data as well as solve the complexity in the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU. The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018  is set to dramatically bring a change in businesses methods of handling data in the populous states. Companies storing vast amounts of personal information- which includes major players like Facebook and Google – will be asked to disclose the data types they collect, as well as allow consumers to opt out of having their data sold. The legislation, which is somewhere similar to Europe’s new GDPR rules, is the result of a final minute attempt to head off a ballot measure t...

5 Things to Consider if You are not GDPR Ready

GDPR is a regulation that makes businesses to secure the personal data and privacy of EU citizens for transactions that occur within EU member states and non-compliance could cost companies dearly.  New data regulations came into action on 25 May 2018 conditioning how businesses can manage their customer and prospective customers’ data. The majority of European businesses will be affected by the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), whether the UK remain part of the EU. The incoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) launch is a trending topic at the moment. Being a massive change to data protection laws in years, including the deployment of substantial penalties for companies breaching the rules, i.e. the legislation is in such a way that if you get caught, you’re in a lot of problems. One of the significant problems with the GDPR is that many people don’t have a proper idea about what they require to do to assure that they’re in full compliance. That’s why we...

If you are an average internet user like I am, there is a good chance you must be experiencing a heavy influx of emails from different websites you use on a regular basis. And if not emails, then a pop-up on every website informing of changes in their privacy policy. Now you must be wondering somewhere at the back of your mind,  why is everyone updating privacy policy  all of a sudden? Well, there is a pretty good explanation to it. It is the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (a.k.a. GDPR). Why So Many Privacy Policy Updates? Now that is a very good question, the answer of which lies in the new GDPR policies enforced by the EU on websites serving the EU populace. According to the rules, every website which is catering to the EU’s population must have  GDPR compliant privacy policy  that states that no website is allowed to collect or use the data of EU residents without their prior permission. This has enabled the users to be in control of the...
